Greek (Demotic) is the official language, with the Greek Orthodox Church being the official religion.


Value System and Relationships

Greece scores the highest of all 50 countries surveyed on the uncertainty avoidance index. Thus, they prefer a structured society with strict rules and regulations. Interpersonal relationships are very important. Their is a social hierarchy with bias against certain classes, ethnic groups and religions. Machismo is strong while the older generation is greatly respected.


Business Climate

A strong work ethic coupled with a laid back approach to life will contribute to an image of much activity but with slower progress. The Greeks are reluctant to take risks with the consequence that they may miss out on opportunities. They are aware of dress, style and appearances, especially in the larger cities. Power is authority, and bosses demand obedience from their employees. They will spend much time analyzing a problem/situation before acting.
